The City of Santa Cruz, California, is situated on the northern part of Monterey Bay about 74 miles south of San Francisco and 30 miles from San Jose. Santa Cruz is the county seat for the County of Santa Cruz.The City has of an area of 12 square miles and an estimated population of 53,200.

Home of the University of California Santa Cruz which opened in 1965, Santa Cruz has long been a popular beach getaway for residents of Silicon Valley.

Among the attractions of Santa Cruz are the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, numerous surf spots, fishing from the Municipal Wharf and yachting from the harbor.
